For the sound installation selbstverständlich – mit leerstellen (self-evident – with voids) I conducted six interviews with members of the Jewish community in Bielefeld, the cantor of the community and the rabbi of the communities in Cologne, Oberhausen and Unna.
The interviews deal with what constitutes everyday Jewish life in Germany today, whether there are any problems, but also what the interviewees wish of their non-Jewish fellow citizens.
During the interview with the rabbi, these questions also led to the background of the sacred texts.
The interview with the cantor was mainly about synagogue music and how it developed and changed over time.
