Mexico
1987
In April 1987 I left the European continent for the first time. I flew to Mexico for two weeks with a business partner of my parents.
They had a wholesale business for handicrafts, at that time mainly from Central and South America. During the two weeks we visited manufacturers and dealers, mostly of traditional handicrafts. This gave me an insight into life both in the cities and in rural areas. Above all, it was the first non-tourist trip that brought about a completely different connection to people and was certainly pathbreaking.
