East of the Urals

Drawing on a year-long overland journey from the Caspian Sea to Japan and back, I present soundscape compositions from various locations. How do we imagine the sound of another country? What is cliché, and what is lived reality? Featuring soundscapes and images from Tajikistan, Xinjiang, Tibet, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan and the Russian Federation.
