Jewish life is for at least 1700 years in Germany self-evident. It is part of the culture and society. But it is also part of the history that jewish life has been suppressed, that jewish fellow citizens and communities had to face violence up to the point of the attempt to annihilate jewish life in all Europe. The Shoa is the loss of many too many lifes. And it is also a great loss in our culture and society.

The composition selbstverständlich – mit leerstellen is based on interviews with members and the cantor of the jewish community in Bielefeld as well as the rabbi of Unna about living in Germany nowadays. Furthermore liturgical chants are an important part of it. As well as noise, all based on recordings in the Synagogue in Bielefeld.
